Women Make Cool Shit
"I have a friend who works in the world of sewing. I mentioned this guy to her who's a quilt artist and he's doing really well for himself. She was like, 'fuck that guy, he's getting famous by making quilts. When women make quilts they're seen as blankets but when men make quilts they're seen as art'. I thought that was really interesting.
I don't know if I would take it that far, but I do think there’s a certain way that we as women value our own work versus the way society values it. And I think it's really powerful for me to be able to buy beautiful fabrics and have the skills to make a garment for myself that no one else has."
